XFX Force Passively Cooled RX 460

Initially I had my build in a Thermaltake Urban S1 case, as you can see below it only has one intake fan option and I was able to squeeze a second intake fan on side panel. The fans I used were three pin standard ones and they seems to bring in a decent amount of airflow. However for a passively cooled GPU it was not sufficient, it caused very high temps and at one point my system even crashed. See PC case specs and GPU temps below.

Temps on idle: High 40s to lo 50s

Temps during bench-marking/gaming: 70s

 

Because of my experiences mentioned above I decided to change to a case with better airflow intake options and also upgraded my fans to PWM (4 pin). It was a night and day change, temperatures improved dramatically and system has been running stable with no crashes/shut downs. See PC case specs below and GPU temps.

Overview: I tend to be skeptic of passively cooled GPUs, especially when it comes to gaming. However I am both very surprised and pleased with my results. Gaming with his GPU has been very stable, no tearing and temperatures have been surprisingly decent. However there are a couple of things to take into consideration: a case with good mount of airflow with static pressure fans is what I highly recommend and results may vary depending on settings and if playing a video game that is highly demanding on hardware/GP intensive. Other than that this is a great and affordable beginner GPU.
